HMRC uses YouTube to offer advice

21 new videos have been published on YouTube, by HMRC, offering advice and guidance to new and developing businesses. Included in the videos are subjects such as; how to register as an employer, how PAYE, VAT and Corporation Tax work, advice on record keeping and payroll systems and an introduction into trading with other countries. The video clips include case studies from real businesses.

The new YouTube videos are additional to HMRC’s live online webinars, which are designed to help small businesses to get their tax right, and can be seen at http://youtube.com/hmrcgovuk.“How to” guides have been being published by HMRC on YouTube since 2011 and have so far included videos offering advice on Self Assessment for childminders, advice regarding the Construction Industry Scheme and how to register for and pay VAT online.

HMRC is further using social media sites to help new businesses by offering question and answer sessions on Twitter. This week’s session is aimed at those considering setting up a new business. Those who wish to take part in the debate, by either asking a question or offering their own advice, are asked to follow @HMRCgovuk on Twitter and use hashtag #biztaxhelp.
