What is a Job Grant (Back to Work Bonus)?

The Back to Work bonus was a one-off payment of £100 that was payable to people working part-time and claiming JSA for more than 13 weeks, when they moved into full-time work.

In 2009 this was replaced by the Job Grant.

The Job Grant may be payable when you stop claiming JSA because you have started full-time work (over 16 hours per week) that is expected to last 5 weeks or more. A Job Grant may be £100 or £250, depending on your circumstances. It is paid directly by the Job Centre, and you need to claim it within 3 weeks of starting work.

The Job Grant and the Back to Work Bonus both count as non-taxable income.
