Flight tax is also known as APD or air passenger duty. Air passenger duty is the way in which the UK government taxes commercial flights out of the UK. Flight tax is paid to the airline you buy an airline ticket from, and is then paid to HMRC following the transaction. The rates at which you pay flight tax depend on the type of flight leaving the UK. There are four different APD bands ranging from A to D, which determine how much flight tax you will pay.
